  • Challenge

For a school project at LUCA School of Arts, we were asked to design a magazine based on a single object. Together with Renée Hanssens, we chose the eye as our central theme — a symbol that connects vision, emotion, and perception. The challenge was to translate something as intangible as “seeing” into a physical, tactile publication.

    Approach
We explored the eye through multiple perspectives: its anatomy, personal stories from people who are blind, the psychology of eye contact, and the science of visual perception. By experimenting with blur, braille, texture, and contrast, the magazine plays with visibility and invisibility. What it means to see and be seen. The design intentionally blurs the line between reader and observer, turning each page into both an image and an experience.

    Result
The outcome is Of All Things: The Eye, a conceptual magazine that invites readers to look beyond the surface. It merges research, storytelling, and experimental design into a thoughtful visual narrative that questions how we perceive the world around us.
